Anna Yudina is a single mother from Kherson. She and her son Artem who was 2 years of age when the war started, were lucky to escape the Russian invasion and fled to a small village called Terlo near Lviv. Anna, like many Ukrainian people, lost everything. She was offered refuge in an abandoned house with no running water or plumbing but she was very grateful just to have somewhere for her and her son to stay.

Her parents and brother were not so lucky. Anna lost contact with them and was not able to reach them until eight months after Kherson was liberated. Anna travelled alone across the Ukraine to search for her family. They were alive!

She had to go through numerous check points, risking her life. She was excited to finally see her family but the joy was only short lived. After eight months of constant shelling and living under Russian occupation, her mother was suffering from severe mental problems, needing psychiatric treatment. Her father became dependent on alcohol as many people did during the occupation.

Anna was able to relocate her family to Terlo. She now spends all her free time painting which helps her to temporarily forget the trauma and suffering that she and her family had to endure.

Anna paints with acrylic paint on canvas.  Each painting is personally signed by her and comes with her photograph.
